My art journey began in earnest in 2020 during COVID lockdown when I took some free online art classes. I was hooked. Years and years ago I had done a little painting and thought that someday I'd like to get back at it. I suddenly knew this was the time I'd been waiting for. It was NOW. Locked down with my husband in a small apartment in a beautiful manor home in rural Ontario I began to paint. Here's what transpired. ART 2020
In 2021 I completed another season of painting in a different kind of self-imposed lock-down. In April I returned from Mexico to my native Canada to help care for my mom during her last 4 months of life. It was a precious time and I whiled away many hours and days painting as she slept. My mother passed away and we returned to Mexico to winter there in our beautiful tropical garden. The urge to paint has only increased. I continue wrestling with abstracts and so we'll see if this is the year when that defining voice that artists seek will manifest itself. I sold a solid round of paintings at Christmas so I'm sending big love and heartfelt thanks to my beautiful friends and family for their encouragement and support. Every time a painting sells I'm thrilled. The space it leaves gives me fresh energy to carry on. Have a lovely Christmas! And I'll see you all in 2022. - Marjonneke (Mago) |
